With a brand new series now underway, Celebrity Big Brother is in its 17th year and is still going strong as one of the most popular reality TV shows ever made. For this year’s show, we at The Event Hire Company have decided to provide an in depth analysis on how styling has affected the overall atmosphere.
Every year, the residence takes on a different theme and brings in new décor to suit the direction of the show and this year is no different. The previous UK vs. USA theme has been removed to make way for a more vintage and theatrical design – of which elements may be considered as contemporary to some. The whole concept echoes the style of early vaudeville theatres which are no longer functional and are now mostly used for event hire purposes. There is a noticeable focus on red velvet and golden detailing with the vaudeville style and the CBB house has stuck to this.
The Big Brother garden has also been completely redesigned to reflect the early 1900s in London, with shipping barrels placed around the bathing pool and a panoramic image of Tower Bridge plastered across the curved wall. A Victorian pub is also situated in the back yard to add emphasis to the time period that the house represents. A lot of time and effort has gone into redesigning the BB house, with attention to detail being the key focus.
The entrance of the house (as shown above) oozes luxury and glamour. The mismatched furniture is more common of the houses in Shoreditch as opposed to the historical décor of post-Victorian Britain and the varied flooring types alludes to the traits of a contemporary flat or mansion. This unusual clash of styles makes this year’s house one of the most abstract to date and according to the producers at Channel 5, the house holds a secret which is yet to be revealed on air.
All in all, the aesthetic changes to the Big Brother house are greatly welcomed and we predict the atmosphere will shape how the show will play out over the coming weeks. As egos clash and the drama continues, the theming of the Big Brother house will always be a key motive behind the show each and every year.
